The Ashmont: A Mudroom Designed With Every Family Member in Mind
Tucked just off the garage, the Ashmont’s mudroom is built for real, everyday use. Custom cabinetry in Benjamin Moore Mountain Air lines the space, paired with white oak elements finished in Rubio Vanilla for a soft, warm contrast. White quartzite tops the counters throughout, while Calacatta Hex 8″ porcelain tile covers the floors, its soft veining tying the room back to the same materials used elsewhere in the house. A long white oak bench runs the length of the room, giving everyone a place to sit down and take off their shoes before heading inside, with individual lockers, hooks, and open shelving above for bags, jackets, and everyday storage.
A custom puppy dining station is tucked into the cabinetry, its white quartzite surface matching the counters just above it. A built-in brass pot filler and stainless steel bowls make refills easy, and bone-shaped cutouts on the drawer front give it a playful detail that still feels right at home next to the rest of the room’s finishes.
Dogs get their own real estate at the Ashmont, and it doesn’t stop at the mudroom. In the one-car garage bay, a custom dog wash station takes the concept even further: a stainless steel tub with a built-in ramp lets a dog walk in on its own rather than being lifted, while a wall-mounted blow dryer and handheld sprayer make for a full wash and dry without a single wet paw print inside the house. Even the tile behind the tub carries the theme forward, a subtle bone motif worked right into the pattern.
It’s the kind of detail most homes skip entirely, but at the Ashmont, the four-legged members of the family got just as much consideration as everyone else.
